Last year, the Poway Days Parade and Picnic gave Poway 4H members the chance to work together to build a float to promote our club and all that it represents, including some of the animals that members are raising.
After the parade members hosted a petting zoo and roping challenge for kids to handle animals and learn about them. The roping challenge will give kids a chance to try throwing a lasso around a stationary cow or steer to win a prize.
The following weekend, we hosted the roping challenge again which was enjoyed by kids and adults alike. We even had some professionals give it a shot and showed how it was done. Some of the members sold glow necklaces around the grounds and in the stands. Everyone had a great time and we raised some money to help with club activities.
Stay tuned for details about THIS year's Poway Days parade, with a patriotic theme....
